Welland Enterprise Awards 2006 - Thursday, 28th September.

Six local businesses received recognition for their achievements in the business world at the presentation of the Welland Enterprise Awards 2006 at Burghley House, Stamford on September 28th 2006. The Agency, which offers free advice and support, gave awards of £750 each to the successful business winners.

The special evening was staged by the Agency, South Kesteven District Council and the Welland Sub Regional Strategic Partnership. It attracted award sponsorships from banks and commercial companies.

Winners were:

Most Promising Business Start-Up (Ringrose Law)
Andy Cleverdon of the Meeting Venue, Stoke Rochford.

Best Use of ICT (I.Net)
Helen Anderson of South Witham Broadband, South Witham

Welland Young Entrepreneur (Welland SSP)
Claire Madin of Future Faces Performing Arts Centre, Lutterworth.

Most Innovative Idea (Streets Chartered Accountants)
Michelle Begy and Jo Durnall of Creative Parties, Oakham.

Clean Green Award (Barclays Bank PLC)
Wendy Stirling of Botanicals Ltd, Melton Mowbray.

Personal Growth Award (Welland Enterprise Agency)
Anne Mortimer of Music and More, Oakham

Winners also received 12 months free membership with the CLA (Country Land & Business Association). Other sponsors for the night included Greensleaves Florists of Stamford, Waterloo brown Event Management and MissChief.

Welland Enterprise Chief Executive John Taylor claimed the standard of award applicants reflected the high caliber of entrepreneurship in the area. Such people deserved recognition.

Guests at the event were welcomed by Welland Enterprise Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Emma Chapman. She endorsed his comments. “Every business entered for the award this year is already a winner. We had an extremely high volume and standard of entries, which in itself tells a story of growing enterprise and entrepreneurship in the Welland.”
